ABOUT
Chris Hutter is an accomplished Dutch still life photographer based in Amsterdam, where he has lived and worked nearly all his life. After ten years of working in various genres he discovered his passion for still life and food photography.
Chris received his training in photography at St. Joost, a Dutch Academy of Arts and has worked with leading advertising agencies and brands in The Netherlands, Asia, Europe and the USA.
After establishing himself as a prominent food and advertising photographer in The Netherlands, Chris has also directed his focus towards the creation of fine art still-life photography. His work is characterised by an intimate atmosphere, captivating compositions, and masterful use of refined lighting techniques.
His "nature morte" subjects, often referred to as inanimate, take on an anima, or soul, because he strongly believes that his still life photography carries spirit and story of his subjects: plants, vegetables, aquatic life, artefacts. Chris also loves the picturesque beauty of ingredients, and appreciates the naturalness of the dishes, which he often creates together with food stylists and chefs.
Chris' collection of fine art still life photography includes around 40 photographs. In his fine art prints the interface between classical art, technical art and commercial art is blurred and he combines all of these in his work.
