About

Chris Hutter is an accomplished Dutch still life photographer based in Amsterdam, where he has lived and worked for over 3 decades. After ten years of working in various genres he discovered his passion for still life and food photography.
Chris received his training in photography at St. Joost, a Dutch Academy of Arts and have worked with leading advertising agencies and brands in The Netherlands, Italy, Russia and the USA.
Chris has historically focused on creating fine art prints with an intimate atmosphere, striking compositions and a refined light. His "nature morte" subjects, often referred to as inanimate, take on an anima, or soul, because he strongly believes that his still life photography carries spirit and story of his subjects: plants, vegetables, aquatic life, artefacts. Chris also loves the picturesque beauty of ingredients, and appreciates the naturalness of the dishes, which he often creates together with food stylists and chefs.
Chris' collection of still life photography includes around 40 photographs; the dimensions are diverse. In his fine art prints the interface between classical art, technical art and commercial art is blurred and he straddles all of these in his work.
His many years of experience in food photography, advertising photography and love for his work, reflect in the resulting images, which always contain a successful mix of artistic and commercial appeal.
